Can cookies break my website? HELP please

I’d be super happy if you could send me stacks 6.13.8 (if at all possible). I just never downloaded it because I didn’t know I had to be on Stacks 5. That would be very kind indeed.

The website that is published both on Lemniscat or geometrylastsupper.com is problematic on 6.14.
Can you download the page from the website directly? Or do you want me to send it somehow? Happy to send you the project too.

I need to see the page with 6.14 on it. That is not what is there now. This is why I asked you to publish to another domain for me to see. Or to send me a zip of your project file.

Raphael,

In order to get help - and you have the best brains giving their time on your case right now - you need to take a fresh approach.

So take a break, step back and perform the following easy path to enlightenment:

  1. Start a new RW page in your project with only the basic stacks. Header, text, image.
Call it “test” (or whatever) and hide from navigation if you want.
One page. Not the whole website.
Use any images to hand and simple placeholder headlines and text. (No one is interested in your content - just the the issue.)

  2. Publish.

  3. Take a look at the published page. Has the problem gone?
If it has, then you can start adding back other stacks - one by one.
    Publish, test.
All OK? Add another stack. Just one.
Publish, test and repeat until the problem appears again.

  4. Do this and in less than an hour you will be able to identify which element on your page causes the problem.

Because this may be the very last stack you added.

Then you can go back one step and learn for yourself why this happened. And maybe fix it yourself.

However, if you can’t, you now have a perfect slim test page for the experts here to dissect and help you achieve your creative vision for this website.

Sure. Where should I send it to? The platform doesn’t allow me to send a zip file.

Hi Geoff,

I totally appreciate what you’re saying.
And yes I find amazing how generous with their time people are in this community. I’m always grateful to be able to talk directly to the best brains as you say. It’s just fabulous.

Thanks for you fresh and pragmatic approach. I see it as the last last resort though.
Why? Because prior to the update everything was working fine.
So if you look at it the other way, after the update I have done the following:

  1. Make sure everything is up to date and that theme and stacks versions match.

  2. Restart RW

  3. Make sure that in View mode, no warning banners appear.

  4. Open older backups of the website which were working fine and had been published without problems.

  5. If the problem remains, travel back in time and revert to earlier version of Foundation6 theme and stack.

  6. If then the problem is solved, surely it must be the update that created the problem, somehow.

I think it’s fair, right?

I’ve replied via the support ticket email where this all started as I can’t keep track of multiple forums and multiple posts going off all night. Let me know there what that test does.

mmm, can’t see it sorry.

Email says it’s sent at my end. Perhaps it’s in your spam? Ticket #: 2315

For the life of me I cannot find that original email. I’ve looked in bins, spams, everywhere.

You should have got a new email with the existing ticket number but now I’ve created an entirely new ticket and forwarded it to you.

Hi Joe,
Still interested by the zip file? How should I get it to you?

All best

Sure. Send it into my support email. Make sure that you reference this thread so that I know what it’s for.
