Icon-creation tool?

I wonder what is the most recommended (and why) non-subscription tool for icon-creation – for folders, documents and apps on Mac platform?

Please, let me know what people (including developers, of course) use for this purpose…

I have used Affinity Photo for icons, but also like Logoist by SyniumSoftware. I also use this to create logos/icons and it is a fairly simple program that allows export to a variety of different formats.

Hey, Stephen. I do have the Logoist and I like it, too. I also have Affinity Photo and Designer. Thanks for your suggestions. Let’s see if somebody else has other ideas…

Maybe Sketch…?

Sketch: digital design toolkit

My 2 cents on Sketch vs Logoist. I tried to check out Sketch and besides having to post email address and password and then, finally, getting to a page with lots of things I wasn’t interested in, I never did get to where I could just create an icon or logo. With Logist (I still use v.3), it is simple, uncomplicated and there are plenty of ways to make unique designs. I vote for Logoist.

Thank you both for chipping in. I had exactly same experience and thoughts on Sketch (and Sketch versus Logoist) as Pete.

Currently, I am using Image2icon for "quickie” jobs. Logoist is quite sufficient for everything else. I was just hoping to find something more appropriate specifically for creating sets of standards-compliant icons of different kinds. That’s why I wonder what developers are using.
