Any issues or advice before updating the MacOC? Is stacks working OK?
Or hold off…?
I have looked at the RW forum posts but wanted to see if anyone here has updated.

I updated to Tahoe 26 today and it crashed. According to Rapidweaver, it has to do with the Stacks plugin. Have sent through the log report and support request to @isaiah. Awaiting reply/fix.
Thank you. I’ll hold off for the moment. Shame stacks wasn’t tested on the beta and ready to go.
That’s just an assumption. I know Isaiah tested Tahoe.
It is because it does not work!
Yeah, but maybe only in certain circumstances. Isaiah is on it.
@Jannis - Here is a screen shot of the crash report and areas of Stacks that are causing the crash. According to the YourHead Website, there hasn’t been an update to Stacks since v5.1.2 in August 29, 2023. The Tahoe Beta had been out for 3 months before public release. I still haven’t heard back from @isaiah after submitting a support request. I don’t know if a fix is coming. It would be great to hear from Isaish with a timeline for a fix. So I am not sure what “Isaiah is on it” means. This situation doesn’t bode well for Stacks 6, when ever that is released.

God no….
Isaiah has mentioned there were issues with the new MAC OS, which doesn’t surprise me as Apple isn’t as keen as it used to be with their software products. My question would be, why go to Tahoe, when it isn’t really official yet (I have no messages of updates) and using Sequoia and Stacks 5 along with Rapidweaver 9.5 has worked for me, just fine. After so many years of using the Mac I have learned that software updates are never clean, never work properly on the first try and it is now a business to crank out software updates and charge for them on an annual basis. Hey, my 2010 Prius still gets over 50 miles to the gallon and runs just fine and I have over 105,000 miles on that car, and it cost less than $20,000 when I bought it new.
All these constant updates is similar to walking in an Aldi or Walmart and seeing that every item in the store has been moved to a new location. I prefer stability over searching for items, wondering where they are now hidden.
Tahoe was released on 15th September! The update is free, as they have been for years and years. There are lots of reasons folk want to update the macOS and that is their choice. You can blame the software but everything else pretty much works on it!
I only use this forum to find out about RW and stacks issues so I’m not privy to what Isaiah says elsewhere.
I should no the score by now, don’t come to the alter of stacks and make a criticism! Soon, they say, soon, keep waiting - by the time stacks pro is here it will be irrelevant and no one but a handful of fans on discord will even know what it does. I really want to carry on with stacks but it’s been over two years now and we are still limping along with promises.
Something major will break soon and there will be nothing to replace it. That will be the final nail in the stacks coffin because I can buy fully functional software elsewhere, now, today that works.
It’s usually a good idea to wait a couple of weeks after a major MacOs update anyway. Apple has become quite sloppy about checking for glitches (although not nearly as bad as Microsoft).
Bottom line: Isaiah tested with Tahoe, he by himself didn’t get any crashes, and the crashes received by RW haven’t found their correct way to Isaiah, or have been overseen.
He now got the crash reports and is working on them.

Why didn’t you or Isaiah, himself say that from the start.
If everyone just pulled this option, the bugs would never come to light. Like so often in life… it’s a classic chicken-and-egg problem.
Quite. It was probably more true when apple just released software and worked from there. I’ve not seen any major glitches reported and most of my other software seems to be OK.
The beta has been out for months. Maybe it was something that was added on the software release suddenly. ![]()
You have a point but if Apple made a bit more effort checking their updates, rather than releasing very buggy software, it would make life easier. Anyway, there are many people out there who get excited by the cosmetic changes and will happily load the latest version. I simply can’t afford the down-time.
Very buggy? Really?
I had no intent of getting your dander up, just stating my observations on updates. I have been using RW since version 6 and every update had plenty of bugs along the way. The present one has reports of some issues, so that is the nature of the beast. I moved from Windows to Mac because of all the constant updates and fixes on Windows. Now the same seems to be happening on Mac OS. Do I really need to have some buttons look like glass? I don’t update unless there is some security issue anymore because, as I said, I like to feel comfortable with the software. I gave an example a while back about Panorama that took almost 5 years, I believe, to go from version 6 to version 10. Jim Rea took his time, rewrote PanX and still, there were bugs, but he kept after it. There was little communication during the process forward with the users until he had most bugs cleaned up.
When I was working and I complained about my job, my boss told me, “If you don’t like this job, go find another one”. Harsh words, but I learned. I would guess that Rapidweaver 9.x or even Rapidweaver 8.9 will continue to work just fine until MacOS decides to do something to upset the applecart. Well, that seems to be the nature of software in today’s world.
My android phone that I paid $600 for no longer accepts updates after only 5 years. If I want a newer version of Android, I have to buy a new phone. As I said, my 2010 Prius still runs great, probably because there is minimal use of software in the engine compartment. My new Sienna hybrid doesn’t even let me backup with the diver’s door open, can you imagine, yet, I can drive it without having my key pod along, which left the car in my wife’s purse as I dropped her off to get her hair done. So, someone can steal my car if I leave it running for a minute, but I can’t back it up with the door open. Now, that is a huge bug, and it hasn’t been fixed in 4 years.
It’s not always about the getting latest update for a new look and feel. Some of the features on the iPad and phone work better if they entire system is running the latest. Developers use newer API’s that don’t work with old systems. I don’t just use RW.
I’ve been using RW same length of time as you and now having to think carefully about wether it’s run its course. Blocs is all up and running fine forTahoe and seems to be going great. I’m digressing but I have a site to build and need to think what I build it on because stacks could be dead in the water with no notice.
