Why don’t you get the courage and ask Adam?
Why don’t you let Adam speak for himself?
Lol, you’re the one upset. Typical all bark no bite.
To quote the FAQ’s of this FORUM:
But remember to criticize ideas, not people
There is a lot of heat in these posts, quickly judging others by our own limited understanding, as we have difficulties to even just imagine why others chose to act differently.
You’re welcome to add anything worthwhile to this community.
If not, stop trolling.
You have a thread here saying a prominent developer is doing something wrong but no one asks him… instead you let the usual angry @Webdeersign post without any proof.
Asking Adam is not trolling.
OK I will.
Why don’t you be honest and just say you are upset that he is the only developer who has stated he will develop for RW9 and stop pretending concerns.
On what planet does Adam owe anyone an explanation, justifying supporting his existing user base?
Better that, than being perceived to leave Customers in the lurch, surely?
He’s been 100% explicit on his forum, explaining why he’s planning to develop for both platforms. It’s not nuanced. It’s not cryptic.
How can he be held responsible for other Dev’s stacks in a Foundry project? That’s a ridiculous thing to imply.
Want to pick sides between Isaiah and Dan? That’s your prerogative, so knock yourself out. Just don’t try to drag/coerce/blackmail others into it. That’s bang out of order. I’m sure he’s got better things to do than join the ‘Pitchfork Brigade’.
Honestly, some people on here could pick a fight in an empty room.
I don’t envy the position this situation has put stacks developers in. Each developer will have to decide what is best for them and their customers.
RW claiming that devs who won’t support RW9 are abandoning their customers (interesting in that I can’t see RW9 being a free upgrade but RW seem to expect devs to convert stacks to elements for free? or am I reading it wrong) is a fair bit of blackmail in itself.
I hate the way this situation has come about, but sadly, “abandoning their customers” is exactly what it’s going to look like to folk who haven’t been aware of this whole sh*tshow.
RW has claimed that it will be a very small adjustment for stack developers to tweak for Elements. If that’s true then not a big deal. But RM has often over promised and under delivered. Right now no one knows how much work (or how little) will be involved. Could be a big PITA for developers or not. I don’t want to even hazard a guess.
But I certainly don’t think we should be taking things out on developers … no matter what their decision.
Developers are caught in a weird situation. People claiming that “all” developers should do this or that are behaving like children. One person even claimed all of this was like the Ukranian war! I’d be embarrassed if I had a 10 year old who made such an immature claim. Hopefully folks have vented their frustrations by now: we all can behave like children at times. It would help a lot if we all calm down a little bit and respect that a lot of developers have a varied set of considerations to weigh. And some might change their mind over time: one way or another.
Developers need to be respectful to other developers, users need to be respectful of stack developers. Hopefully we can start behaving like adults in a world where things don’t always go our way (which is most of the time). Whatever happens we can adapt. And it will be better if we adapt with some grace and respect.
This forum was set up as a support vehicle for the smaller stack developers and those without their own online communities.
While it is understandable that the current debacle is a talking point, I think it is important that this forum does not degrade itself to the level that the Realmac Community has done recently by politicising differences between developers and trying to leverage developers decision making by shaming them or by purposefully recommending that people do not use their stacks.
Similarly, this forum will defend users rights to speak freely where it is appropriate, not hateful and not on the wrong side of the law. We try to talk to users and not ban them. Please exercise responsibility to retain these rights.
We try to engender a desire to work together with many developers (the original main strength of stacks) and not be excessively partisan.
We will delete spoof and troll accounts when we find them as happened this week to one from someone who should have known better.
Clearly, these ideals are often tested but we should strive to maintain them.
There is a lot going on behind the scenes that is not public knowledge, a lot is childish and there is a lot of misinformation in circulation. Let’s keep this forum at a level above all that. We will not post lists of lies, we will not attack others either passively or aggressively and we will support the users of our stacks.
