Can you guys double check website

Hello everyone, I have a FB feed setup on a website and it only shows on my iPhone when I request desktop site version. Do you guys have the same issue when viewing this news site? The FB feed should show toward the middle of the main page . Any idea how to fix it in mobile mode so it will show FB feed? Used Stacks and RW 8. https://www.capenews.com/ Thanks

Yes same thing. Can you provide us an image of the nested stacks?

It is just an HTML stack with the FB code in it. It is not set to only show on desktop.

When I checked the website on Safari with the development tools, the newsfeed disappears when the useragent of the browser is set to the iPhone. The same happens, when the site is accessed from an Android phone. If the user agent is e.g. an iPad or a Mac, then the site and the feed display properly in any size (responsive design).

Therefore it does not depend on the media size, but it is driven by the ‘user agent’ of the browser. In all likelihood, Facebook doesn’t want to show a feed on a phone, but instead wants the user on their app/website (just a guess).

I wonder whether there is a way to enforce a specific user agent when facebook is called in the HTML stack as this all happens on the user’s phone at that point.

I also wondered if there’s a way to force a desktop user agent. If anyone knows how, please let me know. Thanks for checking.

I’ve got no valuable input; Although I did run Cross Country at SEMO in the early 80’s.

Hi @Parker You can try forcing a desktop user agent on mobile using JavaScript, but it may not always work due to Facebook’s restrictions. Alternatively, you can use a server-side proxy to force a desktop user agent or add a message asking mobile users to switch to desktop mode. Keep in mind that Facebook might be intentionally blocking mobile users from seeing the feed to push them towards using their app. They are very quick to modify their systems to prevent us from displaying our content posted on their platform wherever and however we want. I notice that YouTube is doing this more and more frequently. This should make us think about an alternative way to distribute our content (both as a backup and a plan B). Not being able to control the distribution of our own content raises serious concerns for me. The only solution I’ve found so far is duplicating content through services like a personal forum, Adilo, etc. It’s not easy to manage everything alone (and cover the costs). Sorry not to bring better news.

Thanks for the input. I have added a message to the website that only shows up to mobile users asking them to switch to the desktop version. I use Rumble for video distribution now. Rumble is a much freer platform than YouTube.

Rumble yes but thanks to our French government It’s not accessible anymore due to creator content… you see with our regulations there is no longer any need for competitors to advertise or be better than us to sell, they just need to sell, well done to our elites… again! 😉
