I think I recall that Rapid Ideas is no longer in RW business. I have his Event Calendar that has an image of the month and then one can click on a day to see event. I am getting an error message when I try and make changes on the calender, such as background. " Notice : fread(): read of 8192 bytes failed with errno=21 Is a directory in /Applications/RapidWeaver 8.9.4.app/Contents/Resources/RWWebServerLaunch.php on line 238"
Any idea what this indicates? Does it mean the stack is dead due to MAC OS advances? as I am using Stacks 8.9.4. Or has anyone taken over possibly updating this stack.
Any help would be appreciated.
RapidIdeas is out of business for many years now. Iit’s only been a question of time until a stack like his EventCalendar stack stops working due to PHP-version incompatibilities or s.th. similar. Since no-one has taken over this stacks I guess that stack is definitely dead.
Maybe the “Events” stack by 1LD could be a replacement for you:
I figured as much. I have the Events stack, but I don’t think it is capable of showing a month calendar along with events. I used to use Events a lot when writing workouts for my track team, so a calendar view wasn’t needed. Now, I am wanting to post up my gardening activities and clicking on a calendar day to reveal what I need to do or have done would work nicely.
Thanks for the information.
Pete
Maybe the “PHP Event Calendar” script by PHPjabbers could fit for you:
(needs a MySQL database)
I’ve implemented it on two client sites:
https://oberdiebach.de (monthly view)
Termine | Ortsgemeinde Oberdiebach (category view)
https://www.brunnengemeinde.de (monthly view)
Termine – BrunnenGemeinde (different views)
I would strongly advise against using PHP Jabber scripts now. All their scripts have reached end-of-life. Since the company was sold they have outsourced the entire business support, and while the team who look after the scripts are all really nice guys, and really good with PHP, they admit themselves they don’t really know their way around the scripts, that the scripts themselves are a mess now due to multiple updates by multiple different people, and all they can do is just applying sticking plasters if/when things go wrong.
The people who took over the portfolio don’t even charge for them now, they’re all free. They make their money doing support.
To move over to using them at this point would I suspect be a costly mistake.
Thanks to both of you for your input. I ended up using Google Calendar, modifying the code so it is responsive and it is easy enough to update notes about my garden as the season goes along. My site is to a very limited group of people, so this is just my way of keeping my mind sharp.
Thanks for the warning regarding PHPj. In the meantime the scripts don’t seem to be free anymore. Instead they are offering one-time purchases or a yearly subscription… :-/
There is StacksCal as well.
