macOS 26 Tahoe and RW 8.9.3?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has updated to macOS 26 Tahoe?

Before I update I thought it would be good to check and find out if anyone has done so and how they find it working with RW 8.9.3

I have not updated to RW Classic, very happy on 8.9.3 until Stacks Pro is released.

Any feedback appreciated.

Cheers Scott

It worked (for my MB Pro with M4) after disabling FileVault which seems to be activated automatically when upgrading to macOS26 Tahoe

Hi, @Juergen,

Did you mean you had to disable File Vault in order to be able to use RW in Tahoe? Or did you disable File Vault for an unrelated reason?

I had to disable FileVault not only for RW but for a couple of other applications as well, mainly related to file servers and cloud services (MountainDuck, kdrive e.g.)

But RW definitely did not work with File Vault enabled? That seems strange.

There’s a thread over here with a little more information on running Classic and Stacks on Tahoe.

tldr; Elements and Classic are running well. The Stacks plugin also works, although a few stability issues have shown up under macOS 26. Just flagging this so folks know what to expect and can stay in the loop.

Well, I wouldn’t expect anything less than full compatibility between Elements and Classic with Tahoe. But we are talking about RW 8.9.3 here.

I don’t know what’s all behind this. I could edit my projects in RW but publishing did not work as the publishing setup could connect to my FTP server.

Thas same happened with Mountain Duck and Synology Drive: no connection formerly working without any issue could be established (FTP, WebDav e.g.)

After disabling File Vault, everything worked as before.

RapidWeaver 8.x may still run on Tahoe, but it hasn’t been tested and isn’t officially supported. It first launched back in August 2018, so it’s now around 7 years old :scream:

If you’re upgrading to macOS Tahoe, we’d recommend moving to RapidWeaver Classic or Elements. Both are tested and supported on the latest macOS, so you’ll get the smoothest and most reliable experience!

You still don’t get it. We are discussing RW 8.9.3 for a reason. But thanks for the lecture, anyway.

I’ve upgraded to MacOS26 Tahoe and all seems fine.

No issues with FileVault, RW opened immediately and projects are all working as expected.

Tested with publishing, which worked fine. No crashes.

I’m on MacBook Pro M3 using RW 8.9.3 and current version of Stacks 5.3

Only tested with Foundry 3 project…not tested Foundation 6 project yet.

So far all good for me…but others seem to be having issues.

Thanks, @scottf,

Any visual issues related to liquid glass?

No liquid glass visual issues…looks the same and for me RW is operating as usual.

The app icon in the dock doesn’t have the liquid glass effect but some other app icons obviously not updated specifically for os26 also same.
