Opinions on Nova App?

I know this isn’t really the place to ask, but I know the faces here, so can work out if any replies are from idiots, or people who might actually know what they’re talking about! (Opposed to places like Reddit where everyone is an expert on EVERYTHING!)

I’m doing some coding work with AI. Let’s be clear: I’m not doing the coding, AI is doing that, I’m just collating the various files, telling AI when it’s being stupid (a lot lately), and keeping everything updated.

Versioning, and backtracking to a known good last version is getting to be a headache. I’ve just seen an offer from Nova; 40% off. I use Transmit from the same people, and I beleive they will work together well. Plus, I understand I can connect Nova to Git for versioning etc.

Thing is, I really know fuck all about this sort of thing! Anyone out there who does know this stuff and can keep me right?

I had bought the Nova app back in 2022…
Nova is updated on a regularly which is nice.
Having a few other Apps that I use more for that same kind of work, I just stopped my yearly subscription April 2025.

All of our App fall under a cost benefit scrutiny, like so many Apps, the cost to maintain Nova not worth for me, though your mileage might very.

Sadly I did not use AI code feature in Nova, so I cannot comment on that.
I am a long time Transmit Panic user as well.

I am using https://code.visualstudio.com for everything coding related, and of course it has the best AI integration, GIT also, etc.

I thik that’s more a tool for someone like you, a coder. I just want someting to manage the pages AI spew out at me. But cheers for the heads up.

I don’t see a difference in https://nova.app/ and MS Code, only that MS Code is better and free

I’ve read that VS Code is the swis army knife version Nova. Better for people who know what they’re doing. Whereas Nova does less, but does it easily. Or summit like that.

I don’t use AI for coding (and I’m not an expert coder) but I must say I really like VSCode; it just works.

@TemplateRepo
I think I have the same approach as you when it comes to “coding” with AI, and I ran into the same problem you did.

I actually tried out the Nova app as well, but it turned out to be too “big” for me, so I decided against it.

Then I came across SnippetsLab – I think this app should definitely meet your needs. It certainly did for mine.

The best part: the app is free.

I am using SnippetsLab & VS Code, though I did not mention it one my first post.

Thanks for the comments. I ended up getting Nova, and it’s working well.
