I’m new to RapidWeaver. Am using RW9 Classic, Stacks 5 and Foundry3. I have purchased the RW Marvel Theme and when I open the project there is a message that stacks From Nick Cates Design are not installed. How do I get those stacks.
Thank you,
Charlie
Do you know what stacks they are? Was Marvel supposed to come with some stacks?
I took over the development of all of Nick’s stacks years ago. However, if Realmac has included any of those stacks inside of the demo project, that is news to me. You will have to purchase them from my site if you would like that functionality. https://www.weavers.space/
Hi Joe, I’ve tried to find the stacks on weavers space but wasn’t able to. Anyway here’s the list:
velvet
photo
velvet_video
photo_ui
photo_single
cartloon
I had downloaded the template when I first got RW. Apparently when I inquired about the missing stacks I got charged again and I downloaded the themes again. There was a MarvelSplit.Stack that was downloaded but not any of the stacks mentioned above.
Obviously if you have the stacks I’m more than happy to purchase them from you. Appreciate your help.
PS thanks so much for doing the livestream on the Stacks App. It was really encouraging
Charlie
Joe, I’m sorry I didn’t know how to search weavers space. I’m finding a couple of the stacks like velvet & photo; but not velvet_video, photo_ui, photo_single (which is used a lot in the theme) or cartloon. Yes I know that cartloon is for e-commerce but at one time I thought they had a stack.
I’m looking for an e_commerce option as well as a “booking” option – any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Charlie
There is a live search/ filter at the top of this page. Premium Rapidweaver Stacks and Themes for Web Designers
The Velvet and Photo stacks are there. I’m not sure what you are selling. But Photo Pro does have CartLoom integration.
I use CartLoom for my shopping cart. I love it. I don’t use any stack for it though.
@ckerscher you’ve just stepped on the RapidWeaver (RW) landmine of all landmines, and RealMacSoftware created the booby trap.
Well, you’re safe here. We’ll tell you the truth.
RealMac originally facilitated and encouraged plugin and theme development to complement/enhance RW functionality and utility. There used to be any number of plugin and theme developers, but over time RealMac development of RW seemed to stall out and many RW theme developers seemed to fade away.
However, when the StacksPlugIn was released, the RW 3rd party developer community exploded with an ever-increasing number of stack developers. A couple of years ago RealMac announced a new version of RapidWeaver, called RapidWeaver Elements, and Elements promised a replication of the functionality of the StacksPlugIn, but Elements would no longer support the StacksPlugIn. RealMac crapped on everybody and essentially flushed away StacksPlugIn, stealing the concept of Stacks and flushed away too an entire network and community of 3rd Party RW developers and end users.
Contributing to the quandry (I guess), 3rd-party theme development pretty much ended when stacks developers began releasing Stacks-based themes where entire web sites could be built with just stacks, and RW’s sole purpose was to house Stacks while everything else was built off of Stacks
One of the greatest of the 3rd party theme and stacks developers was Nick Cates. He was quite prolific and an incredibly gifted designer on top of everything else, but he apparently saw the handwriting on the wall and opted to cease development and support for his themes and stacks. @joeworkman bought his portfolio of stacks and RealMac bought his themes. Here’s a link to directions on using the Marvel Split stack that was supposed to be included when you bought the theme.
RealMac pissed off a whole lot of people because they are liars, cheats, and thieves. Most web developers who use RW have paid $100s for (a) RapidWeaver, (b) the StacksPlugIn, and (c) stacks. For example, the anger is so significant, this forum used to be titled RW4All.
Most surprised of all by the announcement of RW Elements and the end of RW support/facilitation for Stacks was the StacksPlugIn developer, Isaiah Crew of YourHead Software who’s been working diligently ever since (2+ years) to release a standalone version of Stacks called StacksPro. Many believe he’s very close, especially after @joeworkman demonstrated the newest StacksPro beta just last week. See https://www.youtube.com/live/vqKm1MKWxv8?si=YcVVbIzvbrPlPbQm
Typical too of RealMac, they’re horrible about paying attention to details. I have found them to be perpetual screw-ups who deny their incompetence, and this unfortunately leads to their inevitable dishonesty. Case in point, before you bought Marvel, did they tell you that in order to get the full utility of the Marvel Theme you’d first need to buy (1) the StacksPlugIn for $50?, that (2) RapidWeaver was no longer going to support Stacks – after you spent $50 plus whatever you paid for (3) the Marvel Theme, and (4) you’d have never known about any of this if RealMac had just cleaned up the Marvel Theme code to begin with.
Welcome to our world. You’re halfway through the initiation process. Next up, the secret handshake.
You are welcome to take my entire reply to your question and post it on the RealMac forum. Ask those RealMac lads if your Marvel Theme will work with RapidWeaver Elements.
