Source (embedded) theme for Stacks 6 and Spring sale!

Hi all -

Source (embedded) theme beta

After beta 38 of Stacks 6 was made available I put together a basic version of a theme for Source. I have since been testing out a more integrated theme for Source which moves all of the settings from the main Source stack into the theme settings. This approach isn’t particularly beneficial at the minute but I think it should allow more flexibility as Stacks 6 develops.

The main difference with this new version is that it includes an option to have a Navigation Bar integrated into the theme (so that it appears on all pages of the site that use the theme). This provides a fairly simple Nav bar with zero set up required. What the theme also provides is an option to use the regular Navigation stack (which doesn’t work with the current theme). This works ok for now but is a bit of a hack until Stacks itself more easily allows us to have stacks talk to the theme/app.

I am not pushing this version out to people as yet but keen for a small group of people to test it out. If you would like to beta test the theme (whilst beta testing Stacks) please message me and I will send it over to you. You can have this newer version installed separately from the other Source theme that I put together so that you can use either/or in your beta testing of Stacks.

I published a version of the Source home page using Stacks 6 (you can view it here) and it worked great with only a couple of tweaks due to a couple of current (and minor) issues with the app:

  • Opacity values for colours set in the theme are ignored
  • The live home page uses the Raleway font that is offered by the Source Custom Fonts stack. The path to the font files though is added wrongly in stacks app
